Clad plates of aluminum-magnesium alloys and stainless steel
Clad plates with Aluminum-Magnesium alloys cladding layer are used for transition joints in welded structures in shipbuilding and engineering, and as semi-finished blanks for the components in electrical engineering and instrument industry.
Technical Specifications: TU 1880-003-15190236-2012 «Standard Specification for Aluminum Alloy AMg6UM - Stainless Steel 12Cr18Ni10Ti (TP321) Clad Plate of General Use» approved by Russian Marine Register of Shipment.

Remarks:
- Thickness of stainless layer is not limited.
- Other dimensions and configurations of clad plates and parts (different from a rectangular type) are acceptable by an agreement with the Customer and shall be specified in the order.
Cladding Alloy and Base Metal Materials
The following materials are used as components in clad plates:
- Cladding alloy AlMg6UM according to GOST 4784-97, GOST 21631-76. Thickness of pure Aluminum on both sides of Aluminum plate is over 4% and less 8% of its thickness – this is provided by technology of a mill;
- Corrosion resistant steel of grade 08-12Cr18Ni10Ti acc. to GOST 5632 as base metal;
- Corrosion resistant steel of grade X6CrNiTi18-10(ISO), 321 (AISI/SAE) acc. to ASTM A240/A240M as base metal.
The steel grade is specified by the Customer.
Mechanical properties of test specimens from the as-supplied clad plate conform to the data in the Table 2.

Shape Accuracy and Inspection Methods
Permissible out-of-flatness of the clad plates is within 10mm per meter. Clad plates can be furnished according to other out-of-flatness tolerance when required by a Customer. Camber shall be within 5 mm per total length of the clad plate.
Clad plates are 100% ultrasonic inspected acc. to GOST 22727 or ASTM A578/A578M. The defective plates are rejected or they can be cut within the dimensions indicated in the Table 1. A few single unbonded areas are acceptable if they do not exceed 25mm in its longest dimension. The total unbonded area within one plate does not exceed 100 sq.mm.
Cladding method is explosion welding. An ingoing plate dimensions correspond to the size of AMG6UM plate and is limited by up to 1500x3000mm.
The properties of clad plates correspond to those ones of other manufacturers and have been approved by Russian Maritime Register of Shipment (RS).
Additional Fields of Application
This kind of clad plates is used in electrical engineering and instrument industry and allows to obtain the compromising combination of low thermal conduction and corrosion resistance of stainless steel with high thermal conduction and electric conductivity of aluminum alloy, as well as enables simplified machining from the side of Aluminum cladding surface.
The platform of US-detector shown on the photo is an example of such application.
